Two Seminars on Atlantis OD Herbicide, Italpollina and Alga 600

On February 3 and 4, 2021, Debbane & Co held a two-day seminar in Aleppo, the first one in the Dayr Hafir (Al-Roum) and the second one in Maskanah. These two areas are of high importance for wheat cultivation.

The seminars were attended by a number of distributors, several members of the General Union for Peasants leadership, and a large number of farmers.

• Day 1: The seminar was held at the General Union for Peasants in Dayr Hafir, attended by around 120 farmers.

• Day 2: The seminar was held at the General Union for Peasants in Maskanah (Al-Baath venue), attended by up to 35 farmers.

Lectures were presented by:

Technical Director of Debbane & Co Eng. Zuhair Al-Sitt and the company’s Director of the Organic and Bio-Solutions Department Dr. Wael Al Matni. Members of the Aleppo team were among the attendees and participants, namely Commercial Technicians Eng. Al-Hassan Sayegh and Eng. Abada Qazmuz, as well as the technician Eng. Muhannad Dandal.

The two lectures comprised the following:

1- Eng. Zuhair Al-Sitt:

1. Discussions about the most important weeds that grow in wheat fields and the need to combat them, given the damage they cause to wheat production, in comparison with the damage caused by pathogens and pests.
2. An explanation of the unique composition of Atlantis OD and its efficiency in controlling a wide range of weeds that grow in wheat fields, given its contribution to raising the efficiency of Atlantis despite although it is low inactive substances.
3. Focus on the necessity of early and timely control of the three leaves of wheat at a rate of 1 liter/ Hectare of Atlantis, in order to achieve better control.
4. Focus on the great importance of the ability to mix Atlantis with most foliar fertilizers, growth regulators, fungicides and insecticides where possible, which reduces the number of sprays and allows cost saving.
5. Emphasis on the need to pay attention to the type of herbicide used in controlling wheat weeds, as some counterfeit products do not give the desired result and cause damage to the harvest of the season that follows. The lecture included a presentation of a number of Chinese products that carry the same brand name, and of which farmers should be aware.

2- Dr. Wael Al-Matni:

A- Trainer:

1. Presentation of new organic materials from Italpollina Italian company, notably Trainer and Scudo.
2. Elaboration on the unique features of Trainer, which contains plant-based amino acids.
3. Explanation of the most important benefits expected from Trainer, including the benefits it provides for a number of amino acids.
4. Emphasis on the necessity of using a Trainer in the event of environmental and biological stresses that may affect the wheat crop, at an ideal rate of 2-3 liters/ Hectare, with three sprays every 15 days.
5. Focus on the fact that the pH of Trainer is acidic, which plays an important role in neutralizing the pH of spray solutions if the water used for spraying consists of alkaline or calcareous, as is the case in Dayr Hafir and Maskanah.
6. Reference to the possibility of mixing Trainer with Atlantis OD, which contributes to raising the efficiency of Atlantis in eliminating wheat field weeds and reducing shock to wheat.
7. Presentation of the most important experiments and the results obtained.

B- Scudo:

1. Explanation of Scudo’s formula, an organic copper that contains amino acids and peptides.
2. Elaboration on Scudo’s role in combating wheat rust, as it contains organic copper that does not cause any allergy to wheat.
3. Elaboration on Scudo’s role in balancing the pH of spray solutions due to its alkali pH.
4. Display of pictures depicting experiments carried out in Homs and Hama on Scudo alone, as well as Scudo with Atlantis together.

C- Alga 600:

Some of the properties of Alga 600 were addressed in increasing wheat tillers and wheat’s resilience to weather conditions.

At the end of each seminar, many questions and inquiries with pertaining to Atlantis, Trainer and Scudo were raised, before providing clear and thorough answers to them.
