From the Fields of Kafr Halab
Two Varieties Worth Knowing
On June 23, 2026, the fields of Kafr Halab in Aleppo Governorate brought together farmers and distributors around one shared question: what is worth growing next season?
Organized by the Al-Namaa Agricultural Center under the sponsorship of distributor Mr. Emad Jamal, the field day introduced two varieties that have been drawing attention across the region: Natasha red watermelon and tomato SV 8320. Those who attended came with practical questions and real expectations, not simply to listen.
In the Field, the Fruit Does the Talking
The highlight of the day was a visit to the farm of Abu Fayad, where attendees saw real results firsthand and heard directly from a farmer who had spent an entire season growing Natasha and knew exactly what it delivers.
Natasha is not simply a high-yield watermelon variety. Its elongated round fruit carries a distinctive shine, its thick rind resists cracking and holds up well over long transport distances, and its vigorous foliage gives farmers confidence throughout the season. With a maturity period of 80 to 85 days and consistently high fruit quality, it is a variety that earns its place in the field.
Tomato SV 8320 completes the picture in its own way: firm, uniform fruit weighing between 150 and 200 grams, continuous productivity throughout the season, and good foliage coverage that protects the fruit. Critically, it offers strong resistance to powdery mildew and viral diseases, a concern that weighs heavily on farmers in this region.
Open Dialogue, Real Questions
The day was never a one-way presentation. Open discussion sessions gave farmers space to ask direct questions about irrigation, fertilization, and integrated pest management programs, and to receive answers from a team that understands what growers actually need on the ground. This kind of direct exchange is what turns a variety from something tried once into something trusted season after season.
One Shared Impression
Attendees left with genuine conviction. Both varieties generated not just admiration but serious discussion about wider adoption across the region, and that is precisely what makes field days like this one worth repeating.
